In this article we are going to show you how to use Siri, your new personal assistant on your iPhone 4S. Siri is a powerful tool which allows you to control certain tasks on your phone with your voice. The big advantage of Siri is the ability to understand natural language. This means you don’t have to worry about memorizing specific phrases in order to get Siri to work. Just ask Siri in a way you would ask a person, and it will most likely understand you.
So let’s get started. All you need is an iPhone 4S, a connection to the internet, and your voice. First, make sure Siri is enabled. To activate Siri, go to Settings > General > Siri. To start Siri, press and hold the iPhone’s Home button. You can also hold your iPhone to your ear and start talking (your phone needs to be unlocked. Make sure “Raise to Speak” is turned on in the Settings.)
Once Siri has launched, just tap the microphone button and start talking. Here are some examples of what you can do with Siri:
To text someone, simply say “Text Matt, Let’s meet tomorrow at 4”. Siri will then transcribe what you just said and ask for confirmation. Say “send” or “yes” to send your text.
If you receive a text, you can use Siri like that:
- New Text from David: “Hey, are you free for lunch tomorrow?”
- Ask Siri: “Do I have any appointments tomorrow at 13pm?”
- Siri will answer: “No, your next meeting starts at 15pm.”
- Tell Siri: Reply to David: “Ok, see you tomorrow.”
You can also use Siri to set alarms and timers, check the weather or play music.
